Textile/Surface pattern design

I am a recent graduate of Nottingham Trent University (2.1 BA Hons Textile Design) in search of my first design role.A degree in Textile Design has equipped me with skills in embroidery, knit and weave, with a specialism in surface print. It has also developed a strong on-going interest in fashion, design, and culture.

Research and context in design was an integral part of my degree, obtaining First class marks for my final year dissertation, which focussed on youth culture, fashion, design and media.

My participation in ‘FashionMap’, Nottingham Trent’s High Street Fashion Database, was invaluable in creating commercial awareness and adding to my research skills. The database is the only one of its kind, mapping a fashion trend’s path, from catwalk to high street, via magazine features and celebrity trends.

Presentation skills were constantly in use during my degree, whether visual or verbal. Building a confident ability to present my work was essential in making sure both my self and my work gave the ideal impression, and conveyed everything I intended them to.

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign were key elements in my degree, and with three years experience I have become particularly adept at working digitally, both on creative programmes and office based programmes.
