Fashion Buyer
This is a shop-based role involving the day to day running of our busy Retro Woman/Retro Man stores and being responsible for the purchasing and processing of retro/vinatge/ designer second-hand clothing and accessories from our custoemrs.
Requirements: Fashion based degree or equal knowledge, enthusiasm and confidence. Full or Part-time however one weekend day is required.

Skills:
Used CAD and KLEDO as part of university course. Most of my modules were based on CAD, therefore CAD skills were used throughout my course to produce accurate fashion illustrations and working drawings.
Familiar with using Microsoft Word, Internet.
Excellent verbal communication gained throughout my education and I can effectively communicate and deal with customers.
Taken part in group presentations.
Good telephone communicating skills.
Worked successfully voluntary at a stall in a hectic environment.
Work Experience:
July 2008 – August 2008: George, ASDA, Leicester placement
For my third year work placement, I worked for George, ASDA in Leicester. During my months placement I experienced and learned about buying and merchandising. It was a enjoyable experience which had strengthened my passion for fashion and showed my confidence and independence to operate in a working environment.
May 2005 – June 2005: Call Centre, Space Kitchens, Glasgow
I learned how to communicate on the phone with important clients through training. I learned to deal with some difficult clients maturely and patiently
July 2003 -Present: Addap Personnel, Falkirk
This agency provides me with a variety of temporary placements when the opportunity arises.
McCowan’s Ltd: A sweet factory, where I worked as part of a team and learned to work with machinery to produce the sweets and packaging.
Matheson’s factory: Where I was involved in the production of the products. I learned to cope under pressure.
Falkirk Wheel: I worked in the cafe serving customers, clearing tables and stocking. I learned good customer skills.
St Margaret’s Nursing Home: I coped with the general needs of the residents, cleaning and feeding. I also took turns to work in the kitchen as part of a team.
January 2001: Beehive Nurseries, Falkirk, Stirlingshire
I worked in the nursery for one week for my third year work experience. General
duties were looking after the children. This included in meeting all the children’s
needs and insuring their safety.
 
Interests:
Passionate about designing clothes for myself and others.
Enjoy designing for menswear as well as womanswear.
I like designing new patterns in knitwear.
Enjoy keeping up to date with the latest trends.
Help and organising events like fashion shows.
Read up on latest celebrity trends on fashion magazines, like VOGUE, GQ
